UKAD to push for stronger penalties for doping cheats, wants to broaden the “aggravated circumstances” clause in the WADA code that allows bans of longer than two years for serious doping offenses. Will suggest deleting the clause that allows groups to give reduced bans for athletes who immediately confess guilt, and that more flexibility be written into “specified substances” legislation.  UKAD also wants to discuss “proportionate sanctions” for recreational drugs and that violations not be treated the same as for PEDs.
